That Would Change Everything

"We are modern people, and modern people, though they cherish great thoughts of themselves, have as a rule small thoughts of God."

- J.I. Packer (excerpt from Knowing God)

Years ago I wrote and recorded a song that asks and answers the following question: What if we believed God...like...truly believed Him? What if I believed in the very core of my being that God is good and kind and powerful and wise? How would that belief affect the way I make decisions, view the world, battle despair and move through life? The short answer is: it would change everything.

I invite you to download this song and reflect on any areas of unbelief as we ask God to increase our faith.

"I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!"

Mark 9:24

"Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary?" (Is 40:28) This question rebukes our slowness to believe in God's majesty. God would shame us out of our unbelief. "What is the trouble?" he asks. "Have you been imagining that I, the Creator, have grown old and tired? Has nobody ever told you the truth about Me?" - J.I. Packer (excerpt from Knowing God)

If I believed that You liked writing happy endings Then I wouldn't be so scared to turn the page If I trusted that You knew what You were doing I'd get out of the way

If I believed that You were strong enough to open doors If I trusted You knew how to part the sea If I called you "Living Water" and I really believed You could quench this thirst in me

That would change everything I believe, I believe help my unbelief

If I believed that prayer could change the course of history If I knew Your ways were higher than mine If I trusted You were always right on time I'd stop running ahead I'd stop falling behind

That would change everything I believe, I believe help my unbelief

I believe that You are good If I really understood it deep in my bones Deep in my soul That would change me
