Our Favorite Family Devotionals (for younger children)

Romans 10:17 - So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

If you are looking for a way to begin family devotions with your young kids, here are some great resources for your consideration!

Let me start out by saying that at the time I am writing this article, our children are 6,4 and 15 months. I look forward to discovering all of the wonderful resources that are available for upper elementary and teens as our kids grow, but for now I can only speak for the little years. That said, here are some wonderful books we've been enjoying as a family.

The Jesus Storybook Bible

Thoughts to Make Your Heart Sing

The Ology (we are going through this currently)

Special Times with God

The following book is one we haven't used yet, but after flipping through a few pages I've decided to include this on my list. I plan to substitute the English Standard Version or NIV instead of the paraphrased versions they use for the memory verses. The devotional thoughts, however, seem really age appropriate and well-written. I'm excited to try it out!

I Can Learn the Bible

In our family, we read one chapter each night before bed. Mealtimes would be another natural opportunity to share a devotional thought. Whenever you choose to have your family devotions, I want to encourage you to make this a priority. There is no greater gift we can give our children than the treasure of God's word and the faith that comes through hearing.

Joshua 1:8 "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."
